Assembling a Prefab Sauna
Instructions for assembling your prefab sauna are almost always included in the package that you purchase. With the large number of sauna styles, and manufacterers, the procedure may vary, not only in assembly order, but in how things are actually to be connected. Before puchasing any prefab sauna, make sure that you have a set of detailed instructions which provide you with all you need to know on how to install the sauna. It is important to also make sure that you have access to any tools that may be required.
Most prefab saunas are assembled with the following process:
- Assemble the base frame, using a capenter's square to make sure that all corners are square. Adjust the footings so that the foundation is level.
- Put up the wall panels, and the panel which contains the prehung door; these panels will usually snap, bolt, or lock together and then attach onto the base frame.
- Nail the ceiling panel onto the top of the wall panels.
- Attach the bench cleats / supports to the side and back walls of the sauna. You may have to drive screws through the wall and into the wall studs beyond for additional support.
- Place benches and duckboard flooring into proper locations.
- Attach any trim.
- Install the stove. If you are installing a gas or wood-burning heater then a flue vent will be required. If you've decided upon an electric sauna heater then make sure to have an electrician do or at least review the wiring.
